Answering Your FAQs About MOQs

CobrandMOQ_Blog

As a stylist or salon owner, you’ve likely learned there are a lot of things that you need to know when working with wholesale retailers. Often, you’ll hear wholesale retailers talk about MOQs. Insider terms and phrases like that often leave people with questions.

We want to make sure you’re happy with your experience working with Walker Tape and Beautify. To help with that, we want to answer any questions you may have about the wholesale process.

Today, we’re going to focus on your questions about MOQs.

What Is MOQ?

Let’s start with the basics, what is MOQ?

MOQ stands for Minimum Order Quantity. Most wholesale retailers will have a minimum order requirement to even place an order. This amount can be in quantity of items or in overall price.

If you don’t meet the total MOQ, you won’t be able to place an order with that retailer.

Why Have MOQ?

This may initially seem like a silly requirement. After all, wouldn’t we want as many orders as possible?

For smaller, more local-based companies, yes, you would want a lot of orders. But for larger companies like Walker Tape, it doesn’t work the way you may think. Shipping can really add up and become expensive both financially and environmentally, especially when shipping a lot of small orders.

When you’re working on an international scale, it makes sense to have MOQs because they:

  • Cut down on shipping costs
  • Cut down on carbon emissions

For these reasons, wholesale retailers require MOQs, that way they can save money and in return, save you money. Plus, it’s better for the environment. So, it’s really a win-win.

What Is the MOQ for Walker and Beautify?

Both Walker Tape and Beautify have the same MOQ. Their minimum order requirement is $40. So, your order needs to be at the very least $40 otherwise the order can’t be placed.

We keep the MOQs for our two different brands the same because it makes it easier on everyone. A lot of our customers will buy Walker Tape and Beautify Products at the same time. Having two different MOQs wouldn’t really make sense.

Plus, we try to keep our MOQ relatively low. We know that you don’t always need to order much, especially because our products have pretty good shelf lives. A $40 MOQ for us could be around two or three products, depending on what you’re ordering.

What If My Order Doesn’t Meet the MOQ?

Like we said, we know that you don’t always need to order that much. So, you aren’t always going to meet the MOQ. When this happens, you don’t need to worry.

We have two suggestions for this situation:

  • Be sure to buy in bulk for future orders

As a wholesale retailer, we sell to local stores. If you only need one thing, like some Easy Green tape, you can use our Find a Distributor page to find a store that carries it. Just put in your Zip Code, city, or region and it will show you all of our registered distributors in your area.

We also recommend doing inventory regularly, that way you can keep track of what you’re going through quickly and will need to reorder soon. Plus, our products have a shelf life of at least six months. So, if it’s a product you know you’ll go through fast, order a few months’ worth. This helps you buy in bulk, avoiding not meeting the MOQ all together.
