2023 has arrived, which means it’s time to look back and reflect on what a good year we had at Walker Tape®. Your favorite products were restocked, and more of our processes and procedures were nailed down, helping to better our customer service.

 

One topic we like to look back on are all of the questions we received from customers on our site, social platforms, and more. We’ve received quite a lot of them, and want to highlight the most unique and helpful questions of 2022.

How do you tell the difference between real and fake Walker Tape® products?

 

If you don’t have a verified Walker Tape® product available to make comparisons, there are a few ways to spot the difference between real and fake products using just the products in question.

 

A good place to start would be looking at the photo of the label on the product’s shop page. There can be color differences, font size and type changes, and information discrepancies, such as how sizes and ingredients are listed.

 

For tapes, any differences in the color of the tape and liner, the carrier of the tape and its flexibility (i.e., your 1522 Clear tape is stretchy when it should be stiff), and the thickness of the tape can all indicate if the product is real or counterfeit. This information can be found on the product listings on our online store, as well as in our catalog. To find the thickness of a tape, we recommend using digital calipers and thoroughly cleaning them before measuring.

 

You can also find a salon or distributor here to purchase a genuine product, and compare it to the other product you own.

 

If you happen to have another version of the same product purchased directly from us, here are a few ways to use that other product to tell the difference between real Walker Tape® products and counterfeits

 

For liquid adhesives, brush size and construction can be a good indicator. Our built-in brush is unique to our products. If the brush varies at all from the official Walker Tape® brush, the product may be a fake. You can also check the consistency of the liquid by rotating the bottles and checking the flow of the adhesive. Or you can check the color of the product. All of our liquid adhesives are clear when dry, so if the color is anything but clear, chances are it’s a fake.

 

We also suggest comparing the smell of the product. Walker Tape® products have generally distinct smells, and many of those scents can be found as specs in our product catalog.

I’ve used half my bottle of Ultra Hold, but now the glue has become rubbery. Can you tell me why this happens?

 

It may be that the product isn’t being sealed properly after use.

 

With proper storage (in room-temperature, away from humidity, light exposure, and properly sealed), our adhesives will last up to 6 months and our tapes will last up to 12 months. For individual storage information on each product, please refer to the product listings on our website.

Where can I find your authorized online retailers?  I’m unsure whether certain Amazon listings are real or counterfeit.

 

Walker Tape® is a wholesaler, so we do not list our products for sale on Amazon. We also do not run an Amazon storefront. The best way to find authorized online retailers is by using our “Find A Salon/Distributor” tool in order to find a salon or distributor near you that sells Walker Tape® products.

“Walker Tape Brasil” is not associated with Walker Tape®. We have a registration filed with the U.S. Government, and have a “®” next to our company name.

Do you have SDS (MSDS) sheets for your Walker Tape® products?

 

Adhesive tapes do not have SDS sheets as hazardous chemicals are flashed off during the tape curing process making the tape inert, meaning it is chemically inactive. Upon request, we will provide a data sheet available on our tapes stating the basic makeup of the tape and the specific thickness. We also have a letter available detailing why a tape does not require a SDS sheet.

 

We do have SDS sheets available for our liquid adhesives. These sheets will be linked on the product’s specific page, under the “cautions” tab. Here is Extreme Hold’s SDS sheet, for example.
